2nd quarter SSR Reflection
One of the books I read this quarter was Unhinged by A.G. Howard, and is the second book in the Splintered trilogy. This book was a dark and very interesting take on Lewis Carolls Alice In Wonderland, which is my favorite fairytale. Alyssa Gardner happens to be really clumsy, overthinks things way too much, and is very stubborn. Compared to the beginning of her story Alyssa was very shy and so closed off that she would refuse to socialize would people and would always wonder what would happen if she had a world of her world, and not really caring about her surroundings. After realizing she is the true heir to Wonderland she must reclaim the throne by defeating the Red Queen, and bring peace and prosperity back to her people, while choosing between her two friends Jeb and Morpheus to be her king. When Alyssa was told that she's the rightful ruler of Wonderland, the news changed for good. She began to be more open with her subjects and not afraid to fight for her people, this helped continue the story by showing her to change her ways and to be a better person. While reading this book I began to notice the similar characteristics between the characters and my friends which made reading this novel even more fun. My favorite part in this book are two chapters where one focuses on Jeb, while the other focuses on Morpheus and Alyssa's point of view on them when she has to decide who will be her king. Overall I really enjoyed this book and really recommend reading it, especially if you'd like to see a different version of a fairytale you heard as a child.
