2nd Quarter SSR

For my second quarter I read The Elite by  Kierra Cass. This novel is the second book in the series called The Selection. The book takes place in a royal palace where a prince is trying to find his true love. It's basically like the bachelor, but cheesier. The protagonist is probably the most important character that builds up in the novel. This character, America, is very artistic. Especially in the musical side. America is also very feisty. Throughout the novel she goes through multiple obstacles. She deals with patience, jealousy, and decision making. Before she went into "The Bachelor", she had a person she loved. She didn't want to be part of the selection, but he leaves her so she can move on and have an actual chance with the prince. She later finds out that he has become a guard for the prince. Later on in the novel she begins cheating on the prince with Aspen Leger (aka her ex). She knows it's not right to cheat ,but she still has feelings towards Aspen. The thing I relate to her is jealousy. Obviously people are gonna get jealous at other people who have what they want. When you don't get what you want as much you question if you deserve it or will you ever get it. America has the same thinking. I have doubt like her, but I do not agree with cheating.
