A character in the book Perfect by Ellen Hopkins I'd like to focus on is named Andre. Andre is an African-American character who wants to pursue in his dream of ballet-styled dancing, but can't express the dream because of his parents. His parents don't know because they will resent his idea and prevent him at all costs to not to go to a dancing academy after high school. ( They think is unreasonable and a waste of time ) Andre's parents are very structured and punctual adults. They believe he should go into business school because it is a good paying job and it is categorized in the town as very business-like and intellectual. Unlike his parents, Andre took more aspiration from his grandfather who used his curiosity to create an invention that set his family in a wealthy standpoint. Reasons why Andre ( he's not gay btw ) is one of the most inspiring characters, is that he continue to follow his dream despite the pressure he goes through in and out of school. This characters determination and confidence influences me in life, because that's what i lack within my own self. Also what was very unique about this character than out of all the other main characters was that he became a positive influence to the people that were in his life. He overall was a very optimistic person who spreads a lot of positive vibes to the people he met in the book. This positivity helps certain characters grows and learn through their mistakes with his advice.
